PAMS is being developed as an integrated digital solution that brings together analysis, training, and operations within a single platform. Yggdrasil represents the first use case and establishes a foundation for further development and broader application across power-intensive installations and operations.
The contract covers the development of an advanced operator training module, based on power system analysis using modern simulation engines and intuitive user interfaces. The solution will enhance insight, improve decision support, and enable safer handling of complex power systems.
First step in a broader digital initiative
“This agreement marks the first operational use case for PAMS. We are developing the solution step by step, with a clear ambition to establish a comprehensive digital solution for how power systems are analyzed and operated,” says Tom Nestli, CEO of Unitech Power Systems.
“Power systems are becoming increasingly complex, while the available tools are often fragmented. We believe it is essential to introduce new digital solutions that provide better insight, control, and decision support. This project is an important step in that direction, and we also see significant potential for these types of solutions to deliver value across other industries managing complex power systems”, Nestli adds.
“PAMS will be an important tool for safe and efficient operation of the electrical installations at Yggdrasil. With power from shore and record-length transmission of HVAC, sound system understanding is essential. The training module in PAMS ensures that operations personnel are prepared as we move into operation," says Hanne Josephsen, Pre-ops Engineering Manager Yggdrasil at Aker BP.
Training functionality as a foundation
The initial delivery is an interactive, scenario-based training module, enabling operators to practice realistic operational situations in a simulated environment. The solution will provide Enhanced operational understanding, Improved handling of complex situations, Reduced operational risk.
The training module is developed as an integrated part of PAMS, ensuring that models, data, and insights can be reused and further developed in later phases and across new applications.
Toward an integrated operational solution
PAMS is being developed with the ambition to support the full lifecycle of power systems, from analysis and planning to operations and continuous improvement.
In future phases, the solution will provide operators and engineers with a unified digital tool that combines real-time insight, advanced analytics, and flexible testing capabilities.
This enables a continuous understanding of system conditions, the ability to evaluate changes before implementation, and ongoing improvement of performance based on updated insights.
By bringing these capabilities together in a single integrated solution, PAMS will enable more efficient operations, better utilization of existing infrastructure, and reduced operational risk.
