Wind turbines and solar panels in a green landscape near water under a cloudy sky at sunset

Sectors

Understanding the context is essential. Through our long history, we have made significant footprints in both onshore and offshore sectors.

  • Offshore Wind
With a long history from offshore electrification and subsequently assisting Offshore Wind developments we have established solid competence and tools for Electrical System Infrastructure design. This comprises electrical system studies, advisory services as well as export and infield cable design. Our Digital Solutions group enables export system design optimization with Cable Loading Prediction utilizing unique real time thermal models. This can be deployed on the installed export system and combined with our Electrical System Digital Twin. Our experience includes significant projects like Green Volt, Med Wind and Hywind Tampen.
  • Oil & gas
We have served the Oil & Gas sector since 1985 and understand the context very well. Our electrical system work comprises studies for newbuilds and modifications as well as measurements and operation support. We have significant experience with electrification, integration of wind power and interconnections between facilities. Our electrical system Digital Twin brings the traditional offline activities online allowing more efficient design engineering, operating support, training simulators and switching assistance.
  • Transmission and Distribution
We provide system studies for utility grids, transmission and distribution. Besides fundamental studies we specialize in areas such as Electro Magnetic Transients, insulation coordination, stability and power quality. Our Cable Loading Prediction product is highly relevant for improved utilization of cable systems in general, and particularly for transmissions with variable loading. It can be deployed for both greenfield and pre-existing cables. Operational value and experience have been made from our deployment on APA’s Basslink transmission between Australia and Tasmania.
  • Renewables
Our renewables projects (besides wind power) include Hydrogen, Wave and Solar. Some projects have combinations with energy storage systems. Our core capabilities comprise detailed simulations and calculations to support electrical design of the plant itself and the grid connection. We support holistic infrastructure, such as Green H hydrogen project in Bodø, Norway.
  • Marine
The marine sector has been supported through most of our 40-year history. This includes navy and various dynamically positioned vessels with high demands on integrity and separation of redundant systems. We support both newbuilds and modifications with all relevant electrical system analyses, relay protection designs and settings, measurements and incident analyses.
  • Industry and datacenters
Our work is directed towards power demanding industries across different process applications as well as datacenters. These projects include both the internal plant electrical system design and the grid connection with grid code compliance analyses. Especially datacenters move quickly from early phase planning stages to commitments for long lead equipment. This requires electrical design studies and equipment specifications to be efficiently developed while managing risks and opportunities for the grid connection.
  • Public Authorities and global communities
We provide sector specific studies for eg. Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority within areas such as electrification and integrity of emergency power systems. We also contribute to development of regulations and standards by participation in both national committees and Cigre.
